Classical Feng Shui applied to contemporary design

BONANOVA PROJECT

How we optimized a sea-view apartment in Palma for sale.

The Project

A 150m² sea view 3 bedrooms apartment in Bonanova, Palma, transformed through strategic Feng Shui consultation in collaboration with a multidisciplinary design team.

MY CONTRIBUTION

The Strategic Layer

I was engaged to provide Classical Feng Shui consultation for this renovation project. While the design direction was already underway, my role was to bring an energetic perspective that could enhance and inform the team’s creative choices.

I conducted a thorough analysis of the property—studying orientation, mapping energy flow, and developing room-by-room recommendations on layout, palette, and spatial arrangements.

FROM ANALYSIS TO ACTION

Energy Mapping

Precise magnetic orientation, Flying Stars analysis, and Bagua overlay to define optimal functions for each area.

Space Diagnosis

Identifying favorable energy sectors to activate and challenging ones to rebalance.

Practical Recommendations

Translation into color palettes, material choices, furniture placement.

Results

Three examples of how Feng Shui analysis translated into concrete design choices throughout this project.

Living Room: Why This Colour

(and Not Another)

QUESTION
“South-facing living room with strong sunlight: warm earth tones or cooler neutrals?”

RECOMMENDATION
Go for cool neutrals with Metal accents (greys, circular/oval forms). Avoid reds/oranges. Choose an oval table to support smoother conversation flow.

RESULT
A space that looks well-designed, with the potential to feel calmer, more open, and comfortable for long conversations.

Master Bedroom or Child Room?

(AND WHY THIS MATTER MORE THAN YOU THINK)

THE QUESTION

“Could this room work better for adults—or for a child?”

RECOMMENDATION

Master bedroom. Being on the West side, its Metal energy has the potential to support unwinding and decompressing. Cool palette (grays, blues). Soft forms. Bed in command position.

RESULT

A space that promotes not just sleep, but restorative rest and mental clarity — perfectly aligned with its purpose.

Kitchen: The Hub of the Home

(AND WHY IT CAN FEEL CHAOTIC)

THE QUESTION:
“The kitchen links entrance, living, and dining—how do we keep it feeling calm, not chaotic?”

RECOMMENDATION
Keep the palette neutral and structured. Introduce Metal through clean lines and subtle metallic details, and add Water through calmer tones and soft reflections. Prefer round/circular forms (lighting, stools, accessories) to soften intensity and improve circulation. Minimize countertop items.

RESULT
A kitchen that reads as calm and premium, with the potential to feel more spacious, organized, and easy to move through

The Value

For the Buyer

A home designed to support life—an experience with the potential to feel truly life-changing, not just aesthetically beautiful.

For Developers

A built-in differentiator for your offer: one more layer of value that helps clients feel confident, cared for, and genuinely satisfied.

Common Questions

FAQ

I conducted a comprehensive Classical Feng Shui analysis including:

– Measured precise magnetic orientation and studied the property’s construction history
– Analyzed all doors and windows (Qi entry points)
– Applied multiple classical schools: Flying Stars, Eight Mansions, Form School, Five Elements
– Created a detailed energy map identifying favorable and challenging sectors
– Provided room-by-room recommendations to neutralize difficult energies and activate beneficial ones.

Not at all. It provides a strategic framework, not creative constraints.

Here’s how it worked on this project:

Without Feng Shui:
“I think the sofa should go here because it looks nice.”

With Feng Shui:
“The sofa should go here because: (1) it looks nice, (2) this placement captures favorable energy (Star 8), (3) it creates optimal flow, and (4) it avoids subconscious tension points.”

The designer still made all aesthetic choices. I provided the energetic rationale that elevated those choices from subjective preference to strategic decision.

Premium clients appreciate this level of intentionality.

For Homeowners:
Potentially life-changing. You spend 12+ hours daily in your home. An energetically harmonized environment influences sleep, focus, mood, relationships — everything. The cumulative effect over years is profound.

For Developers/Investors:
Market differentiation. “Feng Shui optimized” justifies premium pricing and attracts discerning buyers.

For Designers:
Strategic rationale for every choice. Better client presentations, fewer revision cycles.

Both — though the process differs slightly.
